Description
Vintage Tommasini steel frames and bicycles didn’t chase trends.
While some manufacturers lured their customers to the next “revolution” in the industry, Tommasini was a cornerstone of Italian cycling heritage. They created road bikes for road cyclists.
Beginning in 1948, Irio Tommasini began his craft and refined it under legendary frame builder Giuseppe Pelà. A former racer himself, Tommasini understood what was needed to get the most out of the material. This focus allowed him to hone his skills as an artisan, and ignore the buzz of industry trends. His unique approach quickly earned him the respect of racers looking for expertly made machines.
Growing the production in the 1970s allowed his work to reach an audience abroad who realized the exceptional quality of his studio's work.
In the 1980s, the company released a true work of art with the Tommasini Air Prestige. Keeping with the racing performance pedigree, the Columbus SL tubes were shaped to an oval design in order to create a more aerodynamic profile. The pantographed crankset and sculpted fork crown is a reminder of the attention to detail given to each piece of this bicycle. The true standout however is the excellently executed internal cable routing of both shifting cables and rear braking cable.
Our Air Prestige is equipped with nothing less than the complete Campagnolo Super Record groupset. It is accompanied by other top end parts like Cinelli cockpit and Nisi Laser rims in great condition.
A masterful bike made by one of the best frame builders of the era. This one has been refurbished with care so it really is in top shape.
