Description
Torpado is one of the oldest bicycle makers in the world. Dating back to 1895, the company also branched out to make motorcycles. Clearly obsessed with 2 wheeled transport, the family owned company went through many iterations after the golden era of cycling in the 1960s. They were the second largest manufacturers of bicycles in Italy before being acquired in the 1980s which finally saw their frames reach abroad.
Torpado bikes, like this one from the early 1970s, are unassuming. What they lack in glitz, they make up for in ride quality and reliability. We've attempted to remain loyal to the original build of these classic frames by including era appropriate components. Campagnolo Gran Sport and Ofmega parts bring this frame back to its glory days on the road. We have serviced all the bearings and refreshed all the cables, bartape, chain and tires with all new parts. The decals are worn, but we decided not to repaint or apply new decals as it takes away from the history of these now rare bikes.
A Torpado was built to last a lifetime, and like with most things, get better with age. If you appreciate the heritage of well built bicycles, this Torpado is right for you.
