Description
Viscontea was an Italian bike brand which started to produce their own machines in 1937.
But it should be after the war that they would become really famous. Not only were their bicycles technically top notch but they also started to sponsor a cycling team in 1945. One of their most famous riders would be a young cycling prodigy called Fiorenzo Magni who then moved on to win numerous races and classifications.
But our bicycle here is none of their racing machines. Well as you can see that does not mean that it has been built any less luxurious.
This Viscontea Gentleman's Bike comes with an internally routed rear cable and brake levers which are integrated in the handlebar in a classic Condorino-Style.
The highlight however, is obviously the rare suspension fork which makes riding on rough roads much more bearable. Suspension was nothing new on bicycles yet it is interesting that the design on this fork very much follows the one we see in the 1980s on mountain bikes.
To make the bike even more exclusive: Following a thorough restoration, some components have been replaced by brand new classy wooden parts of Cerchio Ghisallo, The world's most famous producers of wooden rims. And in fact, the rims are their top-notch carbon fiber reinforced clincher version.
If you want to ride a very fine and rare bike in style, this Viscontea will be an excellent choice!
