Description

Vitus is known as the pioneer of glued and screwed aluminium racing frames. Despite initial skepticism due to frame flexibility, the French brand achieved several outstanding victories in competitions and developed excellent frames which were probably the best lugged aluminium frames of their time.
The most famous model might be the Vitus 992 - released as further development of the 979 model - which has been ridden by Sean Kelly in an epic Milan-Sanremo. A race that was won by chasing Moreno Argentin during a crazy descent down the Poggio. This victory and the style in which it was earned, also calmed the voices which claimed that aluminium would be too soft a material for professional road cycling.
The frame and fork are made of Dural aluminium tubes which are screwed and glued in Vitus aluminium lugs. The specially formed headtube with a partly integrated headset and the strong fork are, together with the ovalised tubes, one of the reasons why this bike was a really rather stable construction.

As for the parts a super reliable Shimano 600 Ultegra groupset has been installed with a 2x8 shifting.

Great quality is what this bike stands for.

Good for all types of rides, from commuting to soaring down into Milan on the slopes of the Poggio!
