Description
This Bottecchia road bicycle stems from the 1950s and it's one of the older pieces we had in our collection so far.
Bottecchia is a very traditional company which started as the small cyclery of Carnielli and was improved in 1924 by Ottavio Bottecchia, the first Italian Tour de France winner (1924, 1925). A new company with a new name “Bottecchia” was born after the mysterious and tragic death of Ottavio Bottecchia in 1926.
The bicycles they produced were high end pieces which carried many champions to victory.
Our bike is a very nice piece indeed with beautiful chromed lugs and when it arrived in our workshop, we were facing a decision whether the frame will be completely stripped and refurbished or to keep it authentic and leave all the scratches, wear and tear and keep its soul. As you can see, the second option won and the bike still tells the stories of the countless kilometers on the road.
As for the parts, they are mostly original too. From the Simplex Tour de France shifting, Bowden brakes, Magistroni bottom bracket or Nisi rims to Bottecchia branded cranks and headset. A sweet bicycle with a lot of charisma.
