Description
Bottecchia is a very traditional company which started as the small cyclery of Carnielli and was improved in 1924 by Ottavio Bottecchia, the first Italian Tour de France winner (1924, 1925). A new company with a new name “Bottecchia” was born after the mysterious and tragic death of Ottavio Bottecchia in 1926.
Their bicycles carried numerous champions to victory. Many of you out there still remember how Greg Lemond won his 1989 Tour de France on a Bottecchia Equipe.
This Bottecchia exactly illustrates the Team Malvor livery of the early 1980s, with a very typical matt black paintwork in original condition. The frame made of light Columbus SL tubes show the typical and beautiful details of Bottecchia bikes made by Carnielli. The pointy chromed seat sty caps, typical "B" on the fork crown or the precision cutout lugs to name a few.
Finally, it has been equipped with the best racing groupset of the era - Campagnolo Super Record which is in fine condition too. Completed with Mavic rims, Selle Royal CX saddle or brand new handmade tyres, it is a sweet bicycle with a lot of racing pedigree.
Condition
