Description
Claudio Corti is a former Italian cyclist, and world champion. He was born in 1955 in Bergamo, and as you can imagine, growing up in the Italian Alps helped inspire a lifelong passion for cycling. He began to make a real name for himself in the world of cycling, winning the title of World U23 Road Race Champion in 1977 at the UCI Road World Championships in San Cristóbal, Venezuela. Following the success of Conti in San Cristóbal, Giovanni Pelizzoli decided to baptize his top-of-the-line road bike after the City in Venezuela. That was also the same year that Corti famously won the Giro Ciclistico d'Italia (Baby Giro).
The bicycle that we present here is the Ciöcc San Cristobal belonging to Claudio Corti from 1977, the year that birthed the Ciöcc San Cristóbal and also the year that cemented Corti's place as a professional cyclist. What is more, is that the frame sports signatures from both Claudio Corti and the legendary frame builder Giovanni Pelizzoli, and comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Pelizzoli workshop.
Giovanni Pelizzoli was widely esteemed for his particular attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship. As a frame designer, he was responsible for Olympic podium bikes and successful pro team machines. As you could expect from the flagship model coming out of his workshop, the Ciöcc San Cristóbal was always in high demand on the professional peloton. The frame was crafted with Columbus SL tubing and has an aggressive racing geometry, Corti’s bicycle is no exception.
As could be expected the bicycle is still in its original condition and sports a then top-of-the-line Campagnolo Super Record groupset. Some parts of which have been elevated to a new level with Pantographs. On the theme of Pantograhes, the stem from the Cinelli cockpit is also adorned with a personal Corti pantograph. As you could imagine this racing machine would have helped Corti to many a victory.
This exceptional bicycle comes with Corti’s yellow jersey from the Giro d'Italia Giovani Under 23, also known as Giro D'Italia Baby. It is the most important race on Italy's U23 calendar, the analogous to the Giro d'Italia. The list of winners includes renowned riders like Francesco Moser and Marco Pantani to name a few.
