In 2008, the top-of-the-line Colnago Extreme Power model was introduced, featuring double-butted composite tubing and lugs that are compression moulded with such precision that no finishing work is needed before painting. The front triangle boasts triple-butted oversized tubing and longitudinal reinforcing ribs, increasing stiffness by over 30% without adding much weight.
The conical down tube starts at 38mm and flares to 44mm at the bottom bracket shell, while the massive 31.6mm seat tube and CNC-machined titanium bottom bracket insert contribute to its unparalleled stiffness. The oversized 17x35mm chain stays with Colnago's signature "Bay Leaf" design also add to the frame's stiffness.
