Description
Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered the world of two wheels, and immediately he fell in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as a mechanic for several professional teams. His first big success as a frame builder dates back to 1960 when Luigi Arienti won the gold medal at the Rome Olympic Games. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficiency or comfort.
Colnago Super is for sure one of the most successful racing bikes in history. It was released in 1968, produced for more than 20 years, was Colnago’s top model from late 1960 till the early 1980s and became a legend with Eddy Merckx, Roger de Vlaeminck and Freddy Maertens. The Super was designed for professional riders and thanks to Columbus SL tubing it was a synonym for stiffness and lightness.
In tribute to one of his top cyclist's successes in the Paris-Roubaix (1972. 1974, 1975, 1977), Colnago released a special edition of the Colnago Super. Which we are happy to introduce the Colnago Super Roger de Vlaeminck Paris-Roubaix. The frame is based on Colnago Super, however, it has slightly different details than regular Super. Notice the custom RDV engravings with bejewel the bicycle. Built with top-of-the-line Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset (RDV pantograph chainring, stem, seatpost).
