Description
Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932, in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in the world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as a mechanic for several professional teams. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficiency or comfort.
Being always at the forefront of technical improvements, it is no miracle that Colnago also experimented with various frame materials at the same time. And in fact, there were years when they built bikes from steel, aluminium, carbon fibre and titanium at the same time. Ernesto Colnago basically forced the company to have a foot in every door possible.
Some of the outcomes of their endeavours were nothing short of amazing. Breathtaking studies and ready-to-race bikes alike.
One of those fine pieces is the bike we are presenting here. It is a Colnago Monotitan stemming from 1997. It is one of the great masterpieces that Vidmantas Zukauskas, the famous titanium expert, crafted. How he was able to shape the top tube into the classic star-shaped profile escapes our minds. This star-shaped tube almost seamlessly connects with the other rounded tubes, something that is only possible in the hands of a master craftsman.
This very rare piece has then been brought to a higher echelon by the Art Decor paint scheme. Fully checked by our expert mechanics in Berlin and ready to ride!
