Description
Ugo De Rosa is certainly one of the most influential frame builder of the 1970s and 1980s. He supplied many champions with his high-end bicycles like Gianni Motta, Eddy Merckx, Francesco Moser and many more. Ugo also manufactured masterpieces which strongly influenced the cycling industry, just as the De Rosa Professional.
Our exemplar was made around 1984 and it sports an original elegant silver paintjob with blue and green accents which is in very nice condition.
As for the parts it is equipped with the best parts of the era - Campagnolo Super Record gruppo in its last classic generation. It distinguish itself by the elegant non fluted crank arms or the brake calipers similar to the Cobalto version. A sweet detail certainly is the rare Campagnolo Porta Catena system (Italian for 'chain holder'). The drive side dropout features a protrusion which allows to mount that C-shaped aluminium holder designed to catch the chain when changing wheel. To do so, the right lever has an extra release button to press before shifting to an extra second stop - the chain holder. Basically designed for professional racing, the Campagnolo Porta Catena did not have a big success but remained an icon of cycling history. Very fine bicycle made by one of the best frame builders of all time.
The Professional is one of the legendary racing bike models. Made of Columbus SL and later SLX steel tubes, it was a perfect companion for many cyclists on their road to victory. Very distinctive are the beautifully shaped 'Diamante' chain stays, one of De Rosa's signature signs.

Condition
Used. The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. The paintwork and decals are all original. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! All parts are in nice condition and were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity and all wearing parts were replaced with new ones.
