Eddy Merckx, Francesco Moser, Gianni Motta and Moreno Argentin are some of the countless champions which rode Ugo De Rosa frames to epic victories. And it is no coincidence that, in the 1974 Giro d'Italia, the major part of all riders of the peloton chose De Rosa frames.
Widely considered "The Master" Ugo De Rosa manufactured masterpieces which strongly influenced the cycling industry. And helped other colleagues to set up their professional manufactures.
Our De Rosa comes from the late 1980s and features a classic layout combined with fine details. The very core of this De Rosa is made of Columbus SLX steel tubes - a very light and stiff tubing with helical inner reinforcements, butted sections and reinforced chain stays. The rear brake cable is routed through the top tube which gives the bike a more modern appeal, while it still shows a classic flat fork crown - one of De Rosa's favourite details and a rather rare one on other than professional De Rosa bikes at this time. Small heart engravings on this frame lends it a certain light finesse - a bike which really embodies the perfection and attention to detail of the Milanese frame builder.
This particular De Rosa is in great condition, since the paint has recently been refurbished. It is fitted with Campagnolo parts from the Campagnolo C-Record group. This includes a set of magnificent and quite fitting Colbalto brakes. It even comes with a set of rare Campagnolo C-Record Doppler shifters!
