Description
In 1997, Giant introduced TCR technology and everything changed: Total Compact Road, or the geometry that changed standards. The Giant TCR was super compact, with a steeply raked top tube and a rear triangle that was compact in size in unison with the front. More stiffness, better handling and less weight. Giant took a risk with a geometric design that no one had ever seen before on a road bike.
The legendary bicycle designer, Mike Burrows, realised that a compact aluminium design and a sloping of the top tube helped to significantly increase the stiffness of both triangles, as well as improving the weight and handling of the bike. This innovation was inspired by the geometry of mountain bikes and to compensate for the low and tight geometry of the frameset Burrows modified the design to include a very long aero carbon seat post, and an adjustable stem.
In 1998 the ONCE cycling team appeared in the Tour de France with new these Giant bikes and took the cycling world by storm. Our replica Team ONCE bike has been equipped with a Campagnolo Record groupset and the cult classic HED 3 wheelset.
Condition
used. The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. The paintwork and decals are all original. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! All parts were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity and all wearing parts were replaced with new ones.
