Description
Soncini was a small artisan bicycle shop from Parma Italy. It did not mass produce bicycle, however, rather focused on producing high end one off pieces. That is exactly what we have here.
The frame is constructed with steel tubing that is joined together with lugs. The lugs at the bottom of the bicycle are particularly interesting, the suspension system worked through these rotating lugs. Unfortunately, this system didn't last 80 years and has been welted together for safety reasons. But the remnants of the past are still there to be admired.
The bicycle has also been equipped with Espansion centre pull brakes and an early F.B Sabie shifting system, the spring action is reversed, so that the “natural” position of the derailleur is on the largest, i.e. easiest, cog.
Condition
The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The 1940s suspension system has been welded to a fixed position. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! All parts were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity and all wearing parts were replaced with new ones.
