Description
In the early 1980s Alberto Masi had a great idea. The idea to combine an extremely advanced oversized steel tubing with even more advanced internal lugs, hidden in the frame. After several experiments, in 1984, Masi Milano presented the first Masi 3V Volumetrica to the world.
His invention was the inspiration and starting shot for oversized tube frames all over the world. To this day the subtle and elegant construction does not seize to amaze the beholder.
.
What you can see here is one of those legendary 3Vs and it is in a very nice condition since the paint got a refurbishment.
Moreover the frame has been equipped with a complete Campagnolo Super Record groupset in its last classic generation, recognizable by the smooth non-fluted crank arms and brake calipers which were the staring point for the legendary Cobalto and 50th Anniversary ones.
There are also some Masi themed pantographes on the Cinelli cockpit and the wheels are smoothly turning around Nisi AN85 rims which are in pristine NOS condition. The whole bike in fact is in very nice shape and we took some time in the workshop to be absolutely sure that it will be set up nicely and be a joy to ride as it was some 40 years ago.
But there is one more detail which sets out 3V apart. Mr. Masi for some reason decorated the head tube with some fine textured ribs, a finesse done to the raw steel tube very rarely seen on some one-off artisanal pieces.
This bike doesn't have any weak spots and will be a dream come true for any Masi fan.
