Description
Named after its owner Pat Rohan, Rohan Cycles was a successful bike shop located north east of London and a hotbed of the local cycling community. But since the frames sold under Rohan's badge were so good, his fame quickly spread across the British islands. Today, these bikes are perhaps not the the best known to the general public, but are highly praised by the cycling aficionados.
This bicycle we present you here is something else though and we dare to say truly unique. It was made by the master frame builder Ron Thomas and it is frankly a masterpiece. The frame made of Reynolds 531 tubing is so special, that it is hard to find something ordinary on it. Yes, the paintjob has a simple sky blue colour and the tubes are round, but that's where it ends. Almost everything has been custom made and from the ornate lugs through the smooth fork crown and directly attached seat binder bolt to the filigree dropouts the manufacturing quality is second to none. The cable routing is hidden inside the frame and the particularly interesting is the hidden mechanism above the bottom bracket, which allows for a smoother travel of the shifting cables and is indicated just by the two tiny screws from the outside.
And there is the equipment which is based on top level Shimano Dura-Ace AX groupset, but again so many parts were customized or simply custom made. You should check out the headset or the precisely milled stem and seatpost. Not to forget the Royce hubs! Some of the finest and expensive hubs you can get.
This extra fine bicycle a unique chance for those, who can appreciate the extraordinary level of craftsmanship, which is hard to match. And needless to say since it has been fully checked and serviced in our workshop, it is equally nice to ride as it is to look at on a wall.Condition
Used. The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. The paintwork and decals are all original with some small signs of normal usage like tiny paint chips and scratches. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! Parts were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity. You can expect the bicycle in great riding condition and ready to go for your vintage bike ride.Bicycle Size
