Tommasini Super Prestige Campagnolo 50th Anniversary Road Bike 1980s

While many bicycle builders have been offering different quality ranges to meet the expectations of a wider circle of customers, Irio Tommasini did nothing alike.

The artisan frame manufacturer in Grosseto, Tuscany knows nothing but one category of frames - top-class. And what else would you expect from someone who worked together with the great Giuseppe Pelà?

His expertise and relentless quality-oriented craftsmanship found his fame and fans all around the globe, as did his beautifully executed frames.

Here is one of his legendary bikes, a Tommasini Super Prestige from the 1980s. As on any Tommasini frame, you will find engravings and pantographs aplenty.
The tubes themselves are Columbus SXP, the famous steel tubes which were the choice for many professional riders from the mid-80s to the mid-90s. These top-class tubes have been coated in extravagant paintwork, and the subtle marble effect adds a subtle tone of elegance.

But this bike does not only have a beautiful frameset. It also comes with one of the most desirable groupsets of cycling history: The Campagnolo 50th anniversary groupset

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Campagnolo released an initial number of 5.000 pieces of this extraordinary groupset. In the production, they made excessive use of titanium and golden emblems. And every groupset got it's very own number engraved.

Number one went straight to Campagnolo's own museum. Number two was presented to the pope. In the meantime, Campagnolo began to produce more of the sought-after anniversary groupsets to meet the expectations of the market. They just stopped when the number of 15.000 groupsets was achieved.
