Do you remember the epic 1952 Tour de France picture of Coppi and Bartali passing a water bottle? If you look closer you also see a man popping out from a convertible team car behind them. That is exactly Umberto Marnati, mechanic of Fausto Coppi in the 1950s, later frame builder at Legnano and Bianchi Reparto Corse.
Having learnt lacing wheels and welding very young, Umberto Marnati decided to start manufacturing bicycles under his nem. And as it happend, he opened his own atelier in Milan - led by his son Daniele from the 1970s onward - a city with a tradition of excellent frame builders. And Mr. Marnati was no exception. Via Delfico no. 26 soon became a meeting point of enthusiasts who were keen to ride artisan racing frames which were largely renowned for unique attention to details.
This Marnati Corsa perfectly shows how accurate and meticulous Marnati frames are. Made of Columbus SL tubing, this bicycle is a true heap of refined details like the fine cutouts representing Marnati logo. This exceptional bike is in original condition, which means that it sports not just the original almost 50 years old paintjob with patina, but also with original parts.
Mainly it's the Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset from 1974, Cinelli set including Unicanitor saddle, milled stem and Giro d'Italia bars or, Nisi rims.
And there is an icing on a cake. Born in the mid 70s, this authentic bike of highest quality met his creator decades later and so it now sports an autograph of Daniele Marnati, one of the great Milan framebuilders and son of Umberto

Condition
Used. The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. The paintwork and decals are all original with number of small scratches and abrasions. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! Parts were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity and all wearing parts were replaced with new ones.
