Description
Pierfranco Vianelli was a professional cyclist descending from the Brescia province of Italy. His best year came to fruition in 1968, when he won the gold in the Olympic Road Champion in Mexico City. At those same Games, he also won the bronze medal in the 100-kilometer team event together with Giovanni Bramucci, Vittorio Marcelli and Mauro Simonetti.
In his retirement, he started manufacturing high-end racing bicycles. Our delightful example comes peppered with delightful details that separate the great makers from the good. Beautiful lug work, seat stay caps and fork crown, with tight clearances everywhere. The running pantographed olympic rings pattern is an homage to his earlier Olympic triumph.
This bicycle has been equipped with a range of top-notch Campagnolo parts. Completely serviced in our workshop, equipped with some brand new wearing parts, this fine Italian bike is ready for a ride!
Condition
Used. The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. The paintjob is all original. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! All parts were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity and wearing parts were replaced with new ones. I ordered a bike that I saw in the SVB website that appeared to be exactly what I had been looking for. I had been wanting a 1970’s era ten speed Italian road bike, and this blue 1973 Vetta checked all the boxes for me. It arrived much sooner than I expected, in fact I got it the day before my birthday! It was carefully packaged and boxed. After assembly, it was everything exactly as illustrated and advertised. I will definitely order another bike as soon as I can justify it, and I hope to visit both shops during my next visit to Germany.
