Description
Team Kas began operating in 1958 under the sponsorship of the Kas soft drink company. They soon started to flourish into a great team, dominating the Grand Tours, especially the Vuelta a España winning the event five times. The 1980s were arguably some the most successful years for team Kas with all-time great Sean Kelly sporting the Kas colours.
Our Vitus Carbone 9 Team KAS Time Trial bicycle belonged to Alfred Achermann, a teammate of Kelly. The bicycle itself is very special, the frame features carbon/kevlar tubes bonded together with aluminium lugs. The geometry of these frames were rather aggressive for their time. The frame itself proved to be rather flexible due to the aluminium lugs and fork and ended up being the most popular used by the Professional Team KAS.
Our exemplar shows its professional level quality through its parts; a Mavic Comete rear carbon fibre disc wheel and Mavic componentry.
